Three dead in Riverwalk shootings

Omg i use to live in riverwalk a few months ago ): .. glad this didnt happen when i was there but sorry for the familys who lost a love one.
Riverside police are trying to determine why a man with a gun shot two people to death in an upscale neighborhood and then was himself shot by a police officer.
The double-homicide took place this evening in the 11500 block of Trailway Drive in the Riverwalk area of western Riverside, said Riverside police Lt. Guy Toussaint.
Officers received reports of shots fired just before 6 p.m., Toussaint said. When officers arrived minutes later, "an officer-involved shooting occurred, and the suspect was shot," he said. The suspect was taken to a hospital. Toussaint said he expected his condition was serious.
"We don't know what caused the shooting," he said, adding that such an occurrence "would be out of place for a neighborhood like this, out of place for the Riverwalk area. These are very nice homes, this is a very nice neighborhood."
Toussaint said investigators were still trying to determine if the shooter had any relationship to his victims. It was not clear if any of them were residents of the area.
"We're going to be here for many hours," he said of the investigation.

Letter from America: Pakistan, torture and Islamophobia, all at once

As headiness over the killing of Osama bin Laden ebbs, three nettlesome issues have resurfaced in public debate—how to resolve long strained relations with Pakistan, the use of torture to gain information from terror suspects, and Islamophobia.President Obama put it diplomatically: “We think that there had to be some sort of support network for Bin Laden inside of Pakistan. But we don’t know who or what that support network was. We don’t know whether there might have been some people inside of government, people outside of government, and that’s something that we have to investigate, and more importantly, the Pakistani government has to investigate.”

Obama has held a series of meetings with key Latino officials and reform advocates in recent weeks. Despite an aggressive push for substantive policy changes from his political base, the president recently indicated he has ruled out acting on his own to implement provisions of a reform bill that failed to win congressional approval last year.

Osama bin Laden's $50-million bounty should go to Sept. 11 victims

Osama bin laden was killed through means that don't make anyone eligible to receive a reward, the White House said Monday. So what should be done with the millions that were earmarked for the Bin Laden bounty? Give it to the 9/11 victims and their families, two New York congressmen suggest.
